HUNT Cloud was founded in 2013 to provide reliable cloud services for national and international science on sensitive data under NTNU's vision «knowledge for a better world».
We have grown out of the HUNT study, one of the largest health studies around, that has held sensitive health on computers since 1984 - then using 5.25-inch floppy disks on an IBM 5150.
Today, we are part of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. And affiliated with the Department of Public Health and Nursing at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Culture
Team with a flat structure where you are allowed to do what you really believe in, and have an impact.
International employees with English as working language, both in documents and conversations.
A small multidisciplinary team with complementary skills where you will be the expert in your field.
Roles and services are constantly evolving along with the development of the scientific frontier.
Employees that do what they enjoy the most, being building things, automating things, learning or teaching new skills, or diving head first into unknown territory.
Inclusive and multicultural environment that appreciates warm humor, diversity, care and respect.
Values
CURIOSITY - Use your imagination, creativity and curiosity to create new things and discover new knowledge.
TRUST - Have the courage to do what's right - both to safeguard research participant's personal data and to advance science at the same time.
Open Infra and Open Source
We run HUNT Cloud under open infrastructure principles.
Among others, this means that we embrace open source software, open standards and vendor neutral equipment whenever possible.
From an equality perspective, this enables scientists to share tools and methods around the world.
From a personal perspective, we get to enjoy Club Mate at FOSDEM. Photo: Jakub at the 2025 opening session.
About NTNU
Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)'s roots date back to 1760 with the foundation of The Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences.
Fast forward 265 years, and NTNU is Norway's largest university with a strong technology and health track.
We are happy to help so you can enjoy the Nordic lifestyle with a balanced worklife, free health care for all, paid sick leave, five weeks paid vacation and virtually free child's education.
From time to time, we do small side quests, such as interviewing guests on our own video podcast to add interesting perspectives to the scientific debate.
The production is a full team effort where we break from our daily routines to do something fun together.
